What is an MRI scan?
Magnetic resonance
MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) is a medical imaging procedure that allows for painless, non-invasive examination, which is extremely useful for doctors. MRI uses a magnetic field to visualize organs and structures of the body with high accuracy. It is an irradiation test without any danger to you.
How to prepare for an MRI scan?
You will fill out a questionnaire to help the radiologist understand your personal health and any potential issues. Medical staff may ask you to remove any metal objects and inquire whether you have any implanted metal devices, such as prostheses or pacemakers. This is because metal could interact with the magnet in the scanner. In addition, an intravenous injection may be necessary to help visualize specific tissues or organs. Finally, it is important that you remain still and completely calm in order to achieve the best possible MR examination results. Will the MR examination hurt?
This examination is a non-invasive procedure and is completely painless. However, it is always a very noisy examination. Hearing protection devices will be available for your protection. However, the SIGNA™ Premier MR machine, which features GE SilentScan technology, is now available at NÚSCH in Bratislava. Thanks to this technology, the scan is as quiet as a whisper. SIGNA™ Premier was supplied to NÚSCH by Meditrade, the official distributor of GE Healthcare products in Slovakia.
How long does an MRI examination take?
The examination takes 10 to 40 minutes. The duration of the examination may vary depending on the part of the body being examined and your cooperation in maintaining a calm position.
